When traveling with children, it’s important to plan attractions carefully so that everyone in your group can find something fun and interesting! Kolejkowo is a place I originally chose with kids in mind, but we quickly realized that adults would definitely enjoy it too. If this sounds like something for you, make sure to visit Gliwice, where a miniature world full of intricate details, unique scenes, and fascinating locations awaits!
Kolejkowo – Location, Access and Parking
Kolejkowo is located in Gliwice (Silesia), inside the “Europa Centralna” Shopping Centre. It’s about 6 kilometers from the city center, but it’s conveniently located right next to the A1 motorway exit, which is a big plus for transit travelers. Gliwice is less than 30 kilometers from Katowice, and about 190 kilometers from Kielce. You can also reach Kolejkowo from the center of Gliwice by public transport – for example, by bus 678 or 41.
As you’d expect from a shopping center, there’s a large free parking lot right in front of the entrance. There are plenty of spaces, and we had no problem parking close to the entrance. That was on a weekday – weekends may be a bit busier, but the lot is really big.
You can also visit Kolejkowo in Wrocław and Jelenia Góra, and more locations are in the works. The one in Wrocław is similar to the Gliwice exhibition, while in Jelenia Góra you can visit the workshop where the Kolejkowo models are created!

Ticket Prices and Opening Hours
Buying tickets online is more affordable than getting them on site. Online, reduced tickets cost 30 PLN and regular tickets are 37 PLN. On site, those prices go up to 39 PLN and 49 PLN, respectively. Reduced tickets are available for children and teens (ages 3–18), students, seniors, and people with disabilities (plus one companion). You can also sign up for workshops or organize birthday parties on site.
Kolejkowo is open daily – from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays, and from 10:00 to 19:00 on weekends. Plan to spend around two hours exploring, though there’s no time limit – you can stay all day until closing time.
Kolejkowo in Numbers
Before I tell you what to expect inside, here are a few numbers that Kolejkowo proudly shares:
- 900 square meters of exhibition space
- 460 meters of railway tracks
- 12 trains
- 58 wagons
- 235 buildings
- 195 cars
- 3,200 figurines of people and animals

What’s Inside?
First stop: the ticket booth. You can buy your ticket here, but again, it’s cheaper online. Once your ticket is scanned, you’ll pass through the gate, where a small play area awaits kids, including a mini ball pit and giant building blocks.
On the way to the main exhibition area upstairs, you’ll pass a gift shop (you exit through it as well). Before heading upstairs, you can check out a few additional dioramas, like a dinosaur-era scene or a port with submarines.
The main exhibits, and the reason most people visit, are on the upper floor. You’ll find various scenes depicting “Silesian life” as well as imaginative sceneries from around the world. A full “day” at Kolejkowo lasts 8 minutes, followed by 4 minutes of “night.” Lighting changes accordingly, both in the streets and inside the buildings. Sounds also accompany the displays – if you hear a baby crying, look up, and you might see a stork flying by, carrying a little Kolejkowo baby in a bundle.
One standout feature is the “Western River” ship that floats on real water, and the dramatic thunderstorm over Ruda Śląska, complete with lightning and actual falling rain. Local highlights include Huta Pokój steelworks, the Gliwice Radio Tower, Będzin Castle, and the Church of St. Anne from Nikiszowiec (you can read more about Nikiszowiec [in a separate article]).
The buildings are impressive, but it’s the small details that really shine. The models depict everyday life – shopping, protests, concerts, car accidents, commuting, or relaxing in nature. Look closely – character expressions tell stories, and peeking through apartment windows reveals the daily routines of miniature residents.
Viewing platforms are set up throughout the exhibition so even the youngest visitors can enjoy all the tiny details up close.

Test Your Observation Skills!
Kolejkowo takes your attention to detail to the next level. While the exhibition is already immersive – with moving elements, lights, and sounds – there’s also a fun gamification element. Visitors get a special leaflet with a scavenger hunt challenge.
During our visit, we had to find objects like one parrot, seven geese, seventeen dogs, one Spiderman, two monks, two turtles, and Woody from Toy Story. These hidden items are scattered throughout the display, so it’s worth taking your time. Some were easy to spot, others were more of a challenge – and a few surprised us when we weren’t expecting them at all!

Not Just for Kids
At first glance, Kolejkowo may seem like a children’s attraction, but I guarantee that adults will catch many clever or humorous details first. You might notice a couple kissing behind a club, someone mooning from the bushes behind a garden plot, or a guy vomiting while his friend holds him up after a rough night. In the woods, an unaware hunter chases a couple climbing a tree in the nude – caught at the worst possible moment!
Aside from these Easter eggs, the models also include surprising pop culture references. For example, nuns driving down a hill in a Citroën, just like in The Gendarme of Saint-Tropez, or the cast from the popular show Scrap Kings.

Is It Worth Visiting?
I had a good feeling about Kolejkowo – and I wasn’t disappointed. We spent almost two hours inside, and honestly, we could’ve stayed even longer. It’s perfect for kids who will learn about architecture, culture, and history through miniatures, but also for adults who will enjoy spotting hidden details, familiar elements, and maybe even feel a bit nostalgic.
