Traveling with children have different rules. We need to think about what attractions will be suitable for both young and older visitors. On the way to Berlin, I knew that I needed to visit one place. Wildpark Frankfurt is a perfect place to visit with kids!
The Wildpark Frankfurt will be perfect for a short trip. Frankfurt/Oder is close to Słubice. It is said that Frankfurt has been severely depopulated, young people from this city moved. However, he has his charm and it is worth taking a walk. There are several museums, churches and shopping centers. Our goal was in the suburbs – Wildpark.
To get to the park, you have to go to Am Wildpark 2 (Rosengarten district). The car park is located in the park at the Fürstenwalder Poststraße.
History of Wildpark
In the place where you are planning to meet animals in 1912, there was a shooting range. After the war, until 1994, the place has a similar role. The official opening of the Wildpark was in 2000.
Sightseeing
Wildpark is open from April 1 to October 31 daily from 9.00 to 18.00, and from November 1 to March 31 from 9.00 to 16.00. Admission costs 3 euros. An interesting fact is that in case of absence of service, you have to throw fees into the piggy bank. Free parking is available for visitors, a few hundred meters from the entrance. The Wildpark features a restaurant, a free toilet, and a playground. At the box office, we can also buy snacks for animals. Most animals can be petted or fed if want it at the moment. It may happen that a pig, goat or another animal will follow you.
Animals
About 300 animals live in the park. Some of them walk freely, while others are in the pens. It is worth to mention hens, pigeons, pheasants, llamas, moufflons, donkeys, sheep, raccoon, guinea pig, and squirrel. We were interested in prairie dogs – they are really interesting. Zuzia was the one who liked raccoon the most. During our first visit to Wildpark a few years ago, he was very young – today is an adult raccoon.
Worth visit?
Wildpark Frankfurt is a place that will appreciate your child, but adults will be pleased with the visit. You can go for a walk there, take a picnic or eat dinner in a restaurant. My family spent about two hours, but you can still have it for longer.
